There’s a rumor floating around that the San Francisco 49ers aren’t sold on Jimmy Garoppolo. It was obvious we arrived at that point when Garoppolo was benched against the Miami Dolphins. And Garoppolo is coming off an ankle injury. So he does have a reason why he’s struggling to keep up with the speed of the game. Because being in game-shape is a real thing and if you miss three weeks of practice, you can lose a step. The bigger problem with Garoppolo seems to be there’s a pattern with these injuries. Garoppolo actually got hurt when he was a starter with the New England Patriots. Tom Brady was suspended because of Deflategate and Garoppolo went down with a damaged AC joint. Then when he got to San Francisco he tore his ACL trying to juke a defender near the sidelines. On that play Garoppolo probably should’ve just ran out of bounds. Now there’s his latest issue with his ankle. And if you’re John Lynch then Garoppolo’s durability is the biggest concern. Teams need quarterbacks that are reliable. And with Garoppolo out of the lineup so frequently. That could cause the 49ers to look at other options.
