Somebody had to step up for the Minnesota Vikings. Dalvin Cook has carried this team for most of the season but Minnesota needed someone else to take the next step as well. We know now that Stefon Diggs is the guy who is rising to the occasion and he has three consecutive games of at least 100 yards. Of course this happened with Adam Thielen sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Which means Kirk Cousins had to target Diggs more frequently because he doesn’t have anyone else to throw to. But Diggs has made the most out of those additional opportunities and that tells you about the type of player he is. As a former 5th round pick it was obvious Diggs was better than the spot he was drafted in but now he’s becoming an elite receiver in the NFL. This guy is on pace for over 1,400 yards and 8 touchdowns. Keep in mind that Minnesota just paid him a 5-year $72M contract in 2018. Therefore Diggs has been holding up his end of the bargain and this is exactly what the Vikings hoped for when they committed to the 25 year old. On the field his biggest impact has been in the vertical passing game. Diggs can take the top off the defense and it’s led to a surge of output in Minnesota’s passing attack. Not to mention this ball club is 6-2 and could return to the playoffs because of how good Cook and Diggs have been.
