The Atlanta Falcons went to the Super Bowl a season ago but if they lost to the Seattle Seahawks making the playoffs would have been much tougher. While there is six games left in the season and plenty of time for Atlanta to get hot the NFC playoff picture is really heating up. You have teams like Seattle and Detroit who are trying to snatch up the final wildcard spot and Atlanta couldn’t afford to fall behind. Luckily for the Falcons they were playing a banged up Seahawks team and Matt Ryan made enough magic happen to pull off a win. Ryan finished the contest with 195 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions looking poised throughout the game. While Tevin Coleman did all he could do in Devonta Freeman’s absence, Coleman racked up 1 touchdown and 43 rushing yards on the ground. Mohamed Sanu and Levine Toilolo both caught a touchdown pass from Ryan through the air. If Atlanta can continue to find a way to put 30 points on the board good things are certainly coming for this football team. Adrian Clayborn also continued his remarkable hot streak for the Dirty Birds. After posting a 6 sack game last week Clayborn managed to scoop and score a fumble for a 10 yard defensive touchdown. By getting big plays on both sides of the ball Dan Quinn was able to turn the tide against Pete Carroll. That’s not to say the Seahawks didn’t have some big plays. Russell Wilson threw for 258 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. Wilson was also impressive on the ground rushing for 86 yards and 1 touchdown. Jimmy Graham and Doug Baldwin both hauled in touchdown receptions but there wasn’t enough defense from Carroll’s team. Bobby Wagner gave all he had in a losing effort for Seattle he had 8 tackles. Sheldon Richardson was pretty tough upfront too he went for 6 tackles and 1 sack. The Falcons were led by Robert Alford who recorded 9 tackles. Desmond Trufant added 4 tackles and 1 interception in the victory as well.
