The Los Angeles Chargers are putting it all on Austin Ekeler. Melvin Gordon left the team this off-season and signed with the Denver Broncos. So Ekeler has to step up and become LA’s bell cow. That’s not easy to do because it’s a bigger role, more responsibility, and Ekeler will have to take more hits. And let’s face it some player’s bodies are tougher when it comes to taking that damage. This feels a lot like what happened in New Orleans when Mark Ingram left. It wasn’t easy for Alvin Kamara when it was all on him. Austin Ekeler finds himself in a similar situation and has to show he can go from 100 carries a year to 200 and not skip a beat. Gordon won’t be there to help Ekeler out if things get tough. So we know it’s Ekeler’s time to shine if he’s going to become a great running back.
