The Buffalo Bills were a pretty special team in 2017 especially since they ended a 17 year playoff drought. Buffalo did all of this with only 14 touchdown passes from their starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor and it’s clear the Bills have to improve at quarterback to take the next step. One way Sean McDermott’s team could make a splash at QB is by signing Jay Cutler. Cutler played this past season with the Miami Dolphins but is currently a free agent. The Bills have a lot of good momentum with that playoff appearance under their belt, now they should pony up the $10 million dollars a year and get Cutler in order to improve their offense. Then the front office can use the boatload of draft picks they acquired from trades to build around Cutler. Even though on paper it seems like this team has a couple of good receivers, not one player on this roster hauled in over 600 receiving yards. If Buffalo could get Calvin Ridley or Courtland Sutton to pair with the guys they already have in place that would be a very talented group of pass catchers. Cutler could then work the passing game while LeSean McCoy handles all the running responsibilities. Buffalo actually has two first round picks so with that other selection they could address the offensive line with someone like Mike McGlinchey or Billy Price. That would leave the Bills with the rest of the draft to load up on defense. Not only that but this offense would be a much more talented group than they was this past season when Buffalo was already on the cusp of being a true contender. There will be a lot of football fans that oppose these moves just because Cutler is often unfairly judged by the public. Make no mistake about it though this would take the upstart Bills to the next level and that’s what the off-season is all about.
