Things didn’t go the Arizona Cardinals way Thursday night. They lost to the Seattle Seahawks 28-21 and fell out of first place in the NFC West. But if there was a bright spot in that game it was certainly Isaiah Simmons. The Cardinals’ 2020 first round draft pick was a force out there. He started his night off by getting off a block and sacking Russell Wilson. From there Simmons just played fundamental football. You could see him reading and reacting on every single play. Then when Simmons does take off he’s got great closing speed before making the tackle. His pursuit from sideline-to-sideline was something that jumped out at you. And to cap it all off Simmons also did a great job of covering the Seahawks crossing routes over the middle. Everyone raved about how versatile Simmons was when he was coming out of Clemson. And last night we got to see what made Simmons the total package in college. Clearly his confidence is improving and Arizona has to be upbeat about that. If this is an indication of what’s to come then the bar was set high.
