The Miami Dolphins and Jarvis Landry seem to be heading towards a separation since Miami is reluctant to pay the prolific receiver the big bucks. That could cause the NFL’s 2017 reception leader to eventually test the open market in free agency. Jarvis Landry’s abilities are in question because he is a different type of skill set one that centers around consistency more than athleticism. Still he is one of the top pass catchers in the league right now and what a splash it would be if the Panthers signed him this off-season? Carolina recently shipped out Kelvin Benjamin this past season in exchange for a 3rd and a 7th round pick. That move was about getting the most out Benjamin’s value before his play starts to decline however it left the Panthers with a hole in their receiving group. If Carolina can ink Jarvis Landry to a nice payday and use those draft picks to improve their roster (offensive line and secondary). That would be huge for this franchise moving forward and it will give the Panthers enough to take the next step in playoffs. Had Landry been in Carolina’s line up against New Orleans in the postseason there’s a good chance Cam Newton makes a few more plays and gets the job done. This team needs a star opposite of Devin Funchess and Landry is the perfect number 2. Even though the former LSU wide out amasses a lot of his receptions on short yardage plays. That adds another dynamic to a team’s offense and there’s a reason Landry has finished in the top 10 when it comes to receptions the last 3 seasons. This guy just has a knack for hauling in passes and that style of play can add a boost to any team’s passing game. Miami might be making a serious mistake by not re-signing Jarvis Landry because he is a complete football player even if his game isn’t conventional.
