The Philadelphia Eagles took on the Arizona Cardinals in a week 5 match up and Quarterback Carson Wentz was extremely impressive. Wentz threw for 4 touchdowns on the day and only had 1 interception for the Philadelphia offense. When the Eagles quarterback plays like this they are so tough to beat and it really looks like Wentz is coming along in his progression. Obviously that makes Doug Pedersonā€™s team extremely potent and now Philly is a legitimate contender in the NFC East. LeGarrette Blount was the leading rusher in this game with 74 yards, Blount did a great job of carrying the load for Philadelphiaā€™s ground game. While Nelson Agholor, Torrey Smith, Zach Ertz, and Trey Burton all caught a touchdown pass to help the Eagles get the job done. Agholor in particular was extremely effective also registering 93 yards for the day. The chemistry between the 24 year old receiver (Agholor) and Wentz has really been a blessing for the Eagles this year. Philadelphia was led by Nigel Bradham defensively who had a team high 8 tackles. Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham both put up a sack for Phillyā€™s defense as well. Carson Palmer threw for 291 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions for the Cardinals offense but Arizona couldnā€™t score enough to keep this game close. Bruce Arians team only got 21 yards out of their leading rusher (Chris Johnson) in this contest and itā€™s tough to win football games in the NFL when you have a nonexistent running game. J.J Nelson led the Cardinals in the pass catching category with 80 yards receiving. John Brown hauled in 26 yards and caught the Cardinals lone touchdown too. Defensively Arizona got a big performance from Antoine Bethea who contributed 4 tackles and 1 interception. Chandler Jones also added 5 tackles and 1 sack for the Cards defensive efforts. Give credit to the Eagles for hammering the Cardinals, there are no easy wins in the National Football League but Philadelphia definitely made this one look like a breeze. It just goes to show that Pedersonā€™s football team is definitely ascending right now.
