The NFL’s version of musical chairs continues with plenty of other trades on the cusp of happening. Matthew Stafford was the first domino to fall. But he probably won’t be the only big name on the move this off-season. Sam Darnold is also being pursued by the Colts and 49ers. Indianapolis tried to swing a deal for Stafford but nothing materialized. However Indy also sees Darnold as a suitable option. He’s young and Colts GM Chris Ballard thinks his team’s environment could rehabilitate Darnold’s career. The 49ers are another team that’s weighing their options when it comes to Darnold. Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch aren’t sold on Jimmy Garoppolo. They believe Darnold would flourish if he gets to collaborate with Shanahan. Clearly they believe that would be an upgrade over Garoppolo.
