Dak Prescott was a team player this off-season. He settled for a team friendly deal by playing on the franchise tag. It was clear that Jerry Jones was reluctant to sign Prescott to a long term contract. But now Prescott is paying the price for being unselfish. He was just carted off the field in the Cowboys and Giants game. And Prescott’s ankle was absolutely gruesome to look at. You have to feel bad for the guy because he did everything right. Prescott showed how good his character is throughout the past year. He felt like he deserved one of those huge deals that we’ve seen some of the other quarterbacks around the league sign. But when Jerry Jones dragged his feet in contract negotiations. Prescott didn’t become a distraction and hold out. All he did was go back to work with the attitude of “we’ll try again next year.” For it to come to this is a devastating turn of events. Kirk Cousins told Prescott not to be afraid of the franchise tag. However this is the other side of the situation and it’s why pursing security (long term deal) is never a bad decision. Dallas just wasn’t okay with making that kind of commitment. Hopefully looking back at it the Cowboys will understand how far Prescott was willing to go for them. He risked everything to wear the star proudly. Sooner or later that has to be recognized.
