Was David Culley better than people think with the Texans?

Author: Jon Kuzma

Well news broke yesterday that David Culley has been fired by the Texans. And I have to be honest with you guys I didn’t like this one. The Texans were 4-12 last year with Deshaun Watson. And coming into this season. It felt like the Texans would have the worst record in football and be picking first in the draft without Watson. And Culley led the Texans to just as many wins without this team’s best player. Let’s be honest. David Culley overachieved in Houston. You can’t pump out a winning record if you don’t have the talent. Yet Culley found a way to keep this team competitive. And they had some fight in them. The wins over the Titans and Chargers were games they went into with an inferior roster. And still came out on top. That’s a reflection of coaching. Now if there’s a silver lining in all of this. It looks like the Texans are going to target Brian Flores. But it’s tough how it ended for Culley. He showed a lot more than he’ll ever get credit for.
