9/11 was one of the roughest patches in the history of the United States. There hadn’t been a serious attack on America since Pearl Harbor which happened all the way back in 1941. So for the US to come under fire by a foreign threat and with all the people who lost their lives on that day it was definitely a low point in morality not only for the United States but for humanity as whole. While all of this was going on though there was a positive distraction for the American people and that was the NFL. First the league canceled all their games out of respect for the victims but the unity that came from that tragedy was something truly special. People rallied together and they knew they doing something bigger than football. They were preserving the American way of life. Protecting our freedoms by continuing to push on despite the fact that we didn’t know if another attack was coming? It was one of the best moments in the history of the National Football League because it inspired the American people. It feels like we often talk about how wrong the league gets things these days. For that momentum in time the NFL had this great country riding on their back and pro football rose to the occasion. All the values this sport teaches were on display; teamwork, unity, and the ability to persevere. We are all in debt to the National Football League for the resilience they showed when we needed it the most. If you were watching that period of time unfold then you have to feel the same way. It’s was definitely a powerful symbol of the American spirit. The ability to persist when everything around you feels like it’s crumbling. We should all be supporters of this league because they gave us the strength to carry on when it seemed like all hope was lost. God bless America and thank you to all the people who make the NFL possible.
The day football saved America. The NFL came through when the pressure was on the United States.
