Well if you were looking for some entertainment the Jaguars and Titans Thursday Night Football match-up didn’t disappoint. Derrick Henry broke Tennessee’s single game rushing record with 238 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. On one play Henry scored on a 99 yard run. Jacksonville had no answer for the former Heisman winner and he propelled the Titans to a 30-9 victory. Mike Vrabel’s defense was also a key component in this rout. They sacked Cody Kessler 3 times and made a number of crucial stops including a goal line stand on 4th down. Logan Ryan led that bunch with 7 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 TFL. Jurrell Casey had a strong night too he finished with 6 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1 TFL. The Jaguars didn’t have much going on either side of the ball but Kessler wasn’t terrible. He actually outplayed Marcus Mariota but didn’t have enough help around him. Kessler threw for 240 yards, 1 touchdown, and no interceptions compared to Mariota’s 162 yards, no touchdowns, and 1 interception. Dede Westbrook hauled in that lone TD grab on a perfect toe tap near the back of the end zone. Myles Jack was the top defender for the Jaguars with 13 tackles and 1 sack. Telvin Smith added 10 tackles as well but there was no stopping Henry. That’s all anyone will remember about this game and people were comparing Henry’s run to Marshawn Lynch’s Beastquake. Powerful running backs can inspire their teammates and it’ll be interesting to see if the 2016 2nd round pick (Henry) can continue to play like this down the stretch? If he can you have to believe the Titans will find a way to get into the postseason. All they need is Baltimore or Pittsburgh to stumble and that would open the door for them.
