With news coming out of Miami that they’ll start Tua Tagovailoa moving forward. You have to feel bad for Ryan Fitzpatrick. He gave the Dolphins everything he had. And it seems like Fitzpatrick was blindsided by the move to to Tagovailoa. This is someone who was genuinely happy for Tagovailoa when he got some playing time at the end of their last game. Fitzpatrick understood it was a long road back for Tagovailoa after his hip injury. But there’s no doubt Fitzpatrick feels like he’s the best guy for the job. The Dolphins are finally competitive again. And Fitzpatrick was ready to enjoy the ride. The situation in Miami was terrible when Fitzpatrick signed with them. So to be a part of turning this team around meant something to him. However Brian Flores decided to go with Tagovailoa’s long-term potential, over Fitzpatrick’s accuracy (69% completion percentage). That’s obviously tough for Fitzpatrick. He’s a team player so he’ll want Tagovailoa to do well. But if the rookie struggles and this team unravels. Everyone in that locker room will question this decision. So Flores is taking a big risk by changing quarterbacks.
