It’s a miracle that the Detroit Lions were able to land D’Andre Swift in the second round. Most analysts had Swift as the top running back on their board. But for some reason on draft night Swift fell to the 35th overall spot. And Detroit didn’t hesitate to select the former Georgia Bulldog. This is a huge pickup for the Lions because Swift is just like Le’Veon Bell. He’s got that smooth running style and rarely loses his balance. That’s obvious when you see Swift unleash spin moves while sprinting at full speed.

He can also cut on a dime and leave defenders in his dust. One other thing Lions fans are going to love is the fact that Swift is built a little better than Kerryon Johnson and Jahvid Best were. It appears that Swift should be able to absorb the contact better than those other guys. And for an organization that’s struggled to run the football over the past decade. The addition of Swift should be a big improvement compared to what this team is used to. With Swift and Johnson handling the ball carrier duties. That’s a decent one-two punch. Finally Detroit is buying into a ground-and-pound philosophy. And we know running the football is crucial for success in this sport.
