The Philadelphia Eagles were having a spectacular year and were the best team in football for most of the regular season however Carson Wentz won’t be playing the rest of the way. Wentz tore his left ACL against the Los Angeles Rams and now the second year quarterback is done for the season. As good as things were going for Philly this drastically changes the future and now the Eagles will comeback down to earth. There’s no way this football team wins a Super Bowl without Wentz and it’s obvious when you look at the former North Dakota State University alum’s stat line. Wentz was having the best year of any Eagles QB ever (33 touchdowns) which helped captivate the entire city. The culture surrounding Philadelphia is better than it’s been in so long and it’s because this organization knows they have something special in their young signal caller. That enthusiasm is shared by the fans too and you have to imagine everyone in Philly is just devastated right now to see everything fall apart because Wentz ended up tearing up his knee. Head Coach Doug Pederson and his staff had a Super Bowl contending team with Carson Wentz at the helm. Now this team will be lucky to even win a playoff game. We saw a similar situation with the Oakland Raiders last year when Derek Carr broke his fibula and then the Raiders lost their wildcard match up against the Texans. Philadelphia finds themselves in closely related circumstances and don’t be surprised if this team stumbles even before the playoffs start without Wentz. There’s three regular season games left and it will be tough for the Eagles to sustain the success they’ve been able to have over the first thirteen games. The x factor will be Nick Foles and everything he can bring to the table, one thing is for certain he definitely has big shoes to fill.
