Even though the Bears’ season is over. Eddie Jackson was still the best defensive back in all of football and it wasn’t even close:

The Chicago Bears were just eliminated by the Philadelphia Eagles 16-15 in the NFC wild card but that doesn’t mean we should overlook everything Eddie Jackson did in 2018. The second year strong safety recorded 6 interceptions and 3 defensive touchdowns. To put that in perspective Jackson scored more touchdowns than Taylor Gabriel did this season. So clearly this is one of the league’s brightest young safeties and Jackson has came a long way since being selected in the 4th round of the 2017 draft. There’s some really good athletes in front of Eddie Jackson that help create opportunities for the secondary but it still takes a talented player to capitalize on those chances. When you look at how off the charts Jackson’s numbers have been and what he does on the field you can see how big his impact is. This is an individual who is capable of going 80 or 90 yards to the house if he gets his hands on the football. And it doesn’t matter if it’s an interception or a fumble recovery if Jackson grabs the rock then a highlight reel play usually ensues. It’s been absolutely remarkable to witness and not many guys have such keen instincts for the game. On film you could see Jackson jarring the ball loose and and creating takeaways for his team. Most defensive backs (corners or safeties) just cover people and stick to those responsibilities. Jackson covers well and then he provides value is so many different ways. There’s no doubt the Bears have another gear when the former Alabama alum is on the field and playing at a high level. Heading into the future everyone should keep an eye on Jackson just to see whether or not he can consistently perform like this? You always kind of wonder when he’s going to cool off but that doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon with Eddie Jackson.

The Bears’ season is over but that doesn’t take anything away from what Eddie Jackson did in 2018.
