Aliquippa Pennsylvania is known for being a football factory and nobody encapsulates the spirit of Aliquippa more than Paul Posluszny. Posluszny was born in Butler Pennsylvania back in 1984 and in time went to Hopewell High School. At Hopewell Posluszny starred as a running and line backer, ultimately leading the Vikings to a triple A state championship. Soon after Penn State University took notice of Posluszny’s talents and then recruited him to come play for Head Coach Joe Paterno. As a Nittany Lion Posluszny earned 2 Chuck Bednarik awards (2005, 2006) and he also won the Dick Butkist award (2005) which is given to the top linebacker in the nation. While every team in the 2007 NFL Draft passed on Paul Posluszny in the 1st round. At last the Buffalo Bills selected Posluszny with the 34th pick in the 2nd round. During his time with the Bills Posluszny recorded over 100 tackles in 3 out of his first 4 seasons. That streak of 100 tackles went for 6 consecutive seasons and continued over when Posluszny was acquired by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now after spending 6 seasons in Jacksonville Paul Posluszny has recorded over 100 tackles in 8 of the last 9 NFL seasons and that’s a hell of an accomplishment. It takes such grit, toughness, and sheer will to have 1 season of over 100 tackles and Posluszny has made that look effortless by doing it year in and year out. The surprising thing about that accomplishment is the fact that Paul Posluszny still flies under the radar somewhat. If any other player did this they would be on commercials, the cover of magazines, and making a ton of headlines. Posluszny is the exact opposite, he keeps a low profile and just shows up and works hard. That is the spirit of Aliquippa built into Posluszny and it’s favored him well among the best football players in the world. With 1,153 career tackles we could be looking at a Hall of Fame career when we examine Paul Posluszny and he is certainly a Pennsylvania hero. It’s been a great run this far for the man in the middle of Jaguars defense and we will see how long he continues to play for? At this rate it looks like he could play forever.
