There’s so many talented rookies around the league. Josh Jacobs has been great for the Oakland Raiders. D.K Metcalf is proving himself with the Seattle Seahawks. And then there’s Gardner Minshew and what he’s doing with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Minshew has been the most impactful rookie through the first eight weeks and it seems like he’s a better fit for that team than Nick Foles. Turning the reins over to Foles would be a foolish decision because the Jaguars are rolling with Minshew at the helm.
They’ve gotten exceptional play from the quarterback position and it’s helped Jacksonville exceed expectations up to this point. When Foles went down this franchise should’ve been dead in the water but Minshew has a charisma about him. The other guys in that locker room seem to respond positively to Minshew’s leadership and he’s also backing it up stats-wise. With 13 passing touchdowns and only 2 interceptions it’s clear Jacksonville can win with the former Cougar under center. So it makes sense to get his development underway and let him be the full-time starter from here on out. If you have a player who is defying the odds and on track to win Offensive Rookie of The Year you don’t bench that person. This is who the Jaguars are from now on and Doug Marrone has to make the right decision. Stick with Minshew, let him gain even more confidence by being the top rookie in the league, and then all of his positive momentum will carry over to the field for Jacksonville. Really it’s a no brainer.
At the moment Gardner Minshew is definitely the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
