When Will Fuller went down the Houston Texans had to make a move in order to keep their offensive afloat and we know now Demaryius Thomas will be the answer to those problems. The Texans traded a 4th round pick to the Broncos for Thomas and it’s a deal that will have a positive impact on Deshaun Watson. Houston is riding a 5 game win streak and everyone in that locker room has Super Bowl expectations on their mind. Demaryius Thomas brings 5 Pro Bowls worth of experience to East Texas and now this franchise will be very potent out trips formations. DeAndre Hopkins, Demaryius Thomas, and Keke Coutee are going to open things up downfield and then that’s going to create additional daylight for Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue. So this acquisition takes the pressure off Watson in more ways than one. Thomas will also benefit greatly from playing in a better offense. The 30 year old receiver already has 402 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Despite the fact that Denver has struggled with Case Keenum at the helm (10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions). There will be more opportunities in Houston and the things Thomas does well are exactly what this offense needs. Demariyus Thomas is a great red zone target and he can make the contested catch. He’s also very good on fade routes and that’s going to result in more points being put on the board. The final thing you see on film is D.T’s ability to box people out and play like a tight end. That big frame is definitely a huge asset to Bill O’Brien and now his team will be likely win the AFC South. The defense is picking it up and now we know they’re stacked offensively too. All of this positive momentum proves the Houston Texans are one of the biggest winners of the trade deadline.
