It’s so rare that a rookie can step into an NFL lineup and be a star player right away. Every year we see a handful of guys who are able to do it but that’s such a small percentage out of the 1,700 players who make up the league. Fortunately for the Tennessee Titans it seems like they have one of those rare talents in former Ole Miss receiver A.J Brown. Last week against Cleveland Brown took over by hauling in 100 yards in his professional debut.
This is an individual who is a very strong receiver and we saw that in week one when Brown stiff armed a defender into oblivion. Most receivers who are that strong don’t run very well but A.J Brown is also fast and it creates match-up problems. Then you have to applaud the 22 year old’s ability to create plays when the ball is in his hands. He’s shifty in the open field and can make defenders miss. Tennessee really thought Corey Davis was supposed be what Brown is now but clearly playing against MAC opponents doesn’t prepare an individual like playing in the SEC does. It’s no surprise that Marcus Mariota is also playing better since Brown has arrived so you can see how much of an impact this one rookie is having. Now the Titans need to go get another win against the Indianapolis Colts and jump out to an early lead in the AFC South.
