The Oakland Raiders had a great year posting a 12-4 record and now the Raiders are rewarding Head Coach Jack Del Rio with a new 4 year contract. Del Rio will now be under contract with the Raiders until 2020 and that’s a testament to Oakland’s confidence in Del Rio. The Raiders are going through confusing times at the moment due to the fact that they don’t know whether or not they are going to get a deal finalized for their relocation to Las Vegas. That has left the Raiders exploring several possibilities about where they could play in the future. One thing the Raiders organization wanted to do was ensure that their product on the field is secure and re-signing Del Rio gave this franchise the best chance to be successful. The Raiders hadn’t been to the playoffs for 14 years and last year Del Rio got this team back to the postseason so that says something about his coaching methods. Keep in mind the Raiders also have a roster that is stocked full of talent so the the silver and black should be good for the foreseeable future. Del Rio is heading into his 12th season as an NFL head coach, so he has certainly paid his dues and had time to refine his coaching skills. That makes him an excellent candidate to lead this football team and keep an eye on the moves Oakland makes in the off-season. They need to add as much talent to their roster as possible in order to make a Super Bowl push. They have most of their key pieces in place already, not it will be about adding the best role players available. Players the Raiders can get for cheap but yet will still have a big impact on the field.
