Out of nowhere the Las Vegas Raiders have made an offer to Jadeveon Clowney. This is somewhat surprising because the Raiders have Maxx Crosby and Clelin Ferrell. But clearly Jon Gruden isn’t content with the players he has on the defensive side of the ball. Or he wouldn’t be trying to sign Clowney. It seems like Gruden is hoping to send a message to the rest of the league that he means business. And the expectations of this team will skyrocket if they land the former first overall pick. Gruden knows that will be contagious for the other players in his locker room. So this decision is about putting a better team on the field. Even if it comes at the expense of Crosby or Ferrell.
