Jimmy Garoppolo came crashing back down to earth when he tore his ACL in 2018. That was a devastating blow for the San Francisco 49ers and it ultimately doomed their season. The good news for this team is things are returning to normal and Garoppolo was suited up for OTAs with a huge brace on his left knee.
Although it didn’t stop the 27 year old quarterback from putting on a show. Garoppolo threw the ball extremely well during practice and he seems right where he needs to be. Having their top guy under center will be a morale boost for a ball club that could be a playoff contender once things are all said and done. San Francisco has made some upgrades to their roster whether it was trading for Dee Ford or drafting Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel. Getting Garoppolo back in the lineup is the cherry on top of everything and they’re hoping he can return to his 2017 form when he won his first 5 games in a Niners uniform. In order to get back to that high level of output then Garoppolo needs to not only stay healthy but also block out the distractions. Being a successful quarterback in the National Football League opens a lot of doors for you and it’s very important to stay grounded. The only focus should be winning games and finding a way to create some offense. George Kittle, Marquise Goodwin, and Samuel can get open but they need Jimmy Garoppolo to deliver the football. He appears to be someone who can handle the short and intermediate throws but we still need to see if Garoppolo has the arm strength to strike fear in defenders? From a precision standpoint though you have to love what Jimmy G does on the gridiron and the help around him could put him in the running for Comeback Player of the Year.
