Joey Bosa had an interesting rookie season for the San Diego Chargers. Bosa didn’t even play in the first 4 games of the season but still managed to finish the year with 10.5 sacks. That is frightening good and most players don’t have 10.5 sacks when they play in all 16 games. Bosa did those numbers in 12 games and that shows just how promising the former Ohio State defensive end’s future is. Joey Bosa added another element to the Chargers pass rush and when you’re playing against the best quarterbacks in the world, you need all the pass rush you can get. Now the Chargers at least have some defensive presence and now the Chargers will try to take LA by storm. With the Rams also being in Los Angeles both those teams will be competing for the fan base in Southern California. Having players like Joey Bosa gives the Chargers a chance to win that battle and it will be interesting to see who the Chargers plug in next to Bosa. The lightning bolts were ranked 16th defensively so they are in middle of the pack on the defensive side of the ball. Adding another pass rusher on that defensive front next to Bosa could make this defensive unit absolutely lethal when it comes to pressuring the quarterback and that’s a great counter punch to all the elite quarterbacks in this league. The Chargers also could see huge results from drafting a defensive back. Casey Hayward led the league in interceptions with 7 but outside of him the bolts don’t have very many guys that can make a play. Bringing in another high draft pick defensive back will give this team a chance to match up against those upper echelon receivers which will bode well for this team’s future. Regardless though give this organization credit, drafting Bosa was a steal even at the 3rd overall pick in the Draft last year. Bosa is just that good and he certainly exceeded all expectations as a rookie.
