The Los Angeles Chargers will take on the Denver Broncos in week 1 of the NFL regular season and that means the Broncos offensive line will have to deal with Joey Bosa. Bosa was outstanding as a rookie recording 10.5 sacks and Denver will have their hands full trying to contain the second year pass rusher. Bosa presents a match up nightmare because not only is he exceptional quick and instinctive. Joey Bosa also possesses unusual strength and if the Broncos offensive lineman aren’t on their A game the Chargers can rack up a lot of sacks quickly. Denver surrendered 40 sacks a season ago and were in the bottom tier for pass protection. The Broncos front office drafted Garrett Bolles to help in that category however it doesn’t feel like any Denver offensive lineman can go one on one with Joey Bosa. Trevor Siemian is going to overwhelmed trying to adjust to both Melvin Ingram and Bosa. Really getting after the quarterback is one of the things the Chargers can do well, however from a talent standpoint the Broncos clearly have a major edge. That just puts even more pressure on Bosa to come out and play the best game of his life. If Bosa can dominant for all four quarters that will keep Los Angeles competitive and the rest will be up to Philip Rivers. The best players on the field for LA have to do their jobs and then hopefully the Chargers get some big plays from their role players / special teams. It won’t be easy at all because the Broncos seem to be trending upward under new coach Vance Joseph. At the same time though anything is possible in the National Football League and if Bosa can lead the Chargers to a big week 1 victory it would be a great start for the Anthony Lynn era. Los Angeles has to make the most of this opportunity.
