If you exclude D.J Chark who played in Thursday night’s match-up then John Ross has been the best receiver in football. While Chark has played in three contests and has 277 yards and 3 touchdowns. Ross has racked up 270 yards and 3 touchdowns in only two games and that’s the most yards by anyone at this position. Obviously it’s been a huge jump for Ross because at one point people were wondering if he was a bust? We know now that isn’t the case John Ross is just a late bloomer.
Cincinnati contemplated moving on from the former first round pick but Zac Taylor decided to keep him. Obviously that was the right move because Ross has been very explosive in Taylor’s offense. Keep in mind all of this was done without A.J Green in the lineup who is out with an ankle injury. It almost feels like the Bengals should consider trading Green and sticking with Ross as their number 1 pass catcher. Because if Green comes back and Ross’ production declines then the team will be giving a key role to an aging player. Not only does Ross deserve to be the alpha of this group he’s also younger and is still developing. If this front office can get a 2nd round pick for Green then it’ll set them up with an even brighter future. Cincinnati is better off sticking with what’s been working through the first two weeks and they should let John Ross lead them into the future.
