Can Jonathan Allen help Washington take the next step?

Author: Jon Kuzma

Today was a big day for Jonathan Allen. Washington gave Allen a new four-year $72M contract. Which will keep him in DC for the foreseeable future. And that’s a dream come true for this team. Allen helps Washington win at the line of scrimmage. And if you can win at the line of scrimmage. Then you’ll usually win the game. Allen gets it done on the inside. Then that allows Chase Young and Montez Sweat to have more one-on-ones. If Allen wasn’t there. Then Young and Sweat’s jobs would be a lot tougher. Collectively as a group. This defensive front is the best in the league. The Buccaneers will probably agree with that. After they barely escaped this team 31-23 in a playoff game last year. We know Allen is a big piece of that core. So this deal was a no brainer. You’ll see him working his swim move in the trenches. For years to come. And don’t be surprised if Washington keeps getting better. They’ve made huge strides since Allen got there.
