There’s a lot of great athletes playing in New York right now. Kevin Durant is on the Brooklyn Nets and Aaron Judge is still belting home runs for the New York Yankees but nothing is like football. It just feels different when you see a star quarterback lighting it up for the New York Giants and that’s exactly what Daniel Jones did in his first regular season start.
You’d think Jones would’ve had a learning curve before finding his stride but he was dominant from the moment he stepped on the field. Along the way the former Duke signal caller would rack up 4 touchdowns and rallied the Giants to a late 4th quarter victory. They say every day a star is born and Jones certainly won over the fanbase with this upset. Remember everyone in New York overlooked Daniel Jones when the team drafted him but now it feels like the pendulum is swinging the other way and all that resentment is quickly turning to admiration. New York also looked better with the youth movement they opted to go with. Evan Engram, Sterling Shepard, and Darius Slayton all have fresh legs and Jones was the final piece to the puzzle. Todd Bowles didn’t make it easy for the rookie either. The Buccaneers were blitzing on just about every snap but this guy has exceptional poise in the pocket. The other thing that stood out was his athleticism and his 2 rushing TDs were plays that Eli Manning can’t make. Everything looked good and you couldn’t ask for a better start to a player’s career. Crown him because Daniel Jones is officially the King of New York.
