The Lions made the 500 mile trip from Detroit to Green Bay and prevailed in a hostile environment. Detroit Wide Receiver Marvin Jones was very special in this game, Jones hauled in both of the Lions touchdown receptions and added 107 receiving yards. That was a huge spark plug for Jim Caldwell’s offense and now the fans in the Motor City can celebrate having a .500 ball club (4-4). Matthew Stafford was also in top form against a struggling Packers defense. Stafford threw for 361 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. When the Lions’ quarterback plays like this there is no limit on how far this franchise can go. Ameer Abdullah ran pretty hard in this one too he ended the night with 48 yards and 1 touchdown. Abdullah had 2 fumbles in the second half as well but if he can eliminate those mistakes the future is bright for the Detroit running back. Brett Hundley was decent for Green Bay throwing for 245 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. Hundley was able to rush for a touchdown for Green Bays offense too, he put up 22 yards on the ground when things were all said and one. One notable stat from this match up was the fact that Green Bay didn’t have a running back or receiver go over the 100 yards mark. That means the Lions defense was extremely tough and that unit was led by Jared Davis who had a team high 8 tackles. Tahir Whitehead brought it for Teryl Austin’s defense also, he had 5 tackles and 1 sack. On the opposite sideline the Packers defense were led Blake Martinez who recorded 10 tackles and 1 forced fumble. Davon House also continued his outstanding play for the Packers he had 9 tackles. Detroit needed this win to turn their season around and got the job done with ease. The confidence the Lions get from this victory should go a long way as they make a push for the NFC North division.
