The defenses in the NFL are so good that teams often have to pass to get anything going. Therefore wide receivers are more important than ever and the Dallas Cowboys have a good one in second year receiver Michael Gallup.
Last season Gallup showed that the NFL stage wasn’t too big for him by racking up 507 yards and 2 touchdowns as a rookie. He laid a solid foundation for the things to come and now it feels like Gallup is the perfect role player alongside of Amari Cooper. At 6’1” 205 LBS his frame is decent and on game day he uses it to his advantage. Gallup high points the football a lot on fade routes and because he’s so good vertically the Cowboys send him deep often. It’s clear this guy has a knack for getting behind the secondary and those kind of players will always be valuable in this league. When you also factor in how good Michael Gallup is on hesitation routes it’s easy to see why he always burns cornerbacks. This guy is fluid when making double moves (curl and go, out and up) and that adds to everything else he does well. The final phase of his game is his strong hands. Gallup doesn’t need to catch the ball with his chest and it’s no thing for him to make a grab with full extension. Dak Prescott and Gallup seem to have a good chemistry as well so the young pass catcher’s stock is definitely trending upward.
