At the beginning of the season it felt like the New England Patriots might have regressed a bit but not anymore. The Patriots throttled the Broncos 41-16 and suddenly New England looks like a team that could cakewalk all the way back to the Super Bowl. That’s largely because Tom Brady has elevated his game he threw for 266 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions in the victory. Dion Lewis continues to find his stride as well, he rushed for 55 yards and 1 touchdown for the Pats’ offense. Rex Burkhead, Dwayne Allen, and James White all caught a touchdown pass from Brady too. It’s big plays like that which make this offensive unit tick and the trouble with guarding the Patriot is the fact that so many different players contribute to their scoring. New England has three tight ends that can all present a match up headache (Gronkowski, Bennett, Allen). Dion Lewis, Rex Burkhead, and James White all bring different abilities to the running back position as well. So you can see that New England believes in a committee effort at several different positions which makes them so tough to defend. As far as the Broncos go, Brock Osweiler threw for 221 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. While Denver Running Back C.J Anderson ran for a team high of 54 yards. Emmanuel Sanders was extremely explosive in the passing game he hauled in 6 receptions for 137 yards. Demaryius Thomas did all he could for the Broncos too he caught 1 touchdown reception. Kyle Van Noy was the Patriots most productive defender with 5 tackles. Patrick Chung added 4 tackles and 1 interception as well. Justin Simmons was the top defender for Denver he had 10 tackles and 1 sack. Brandon Marshall played well also he had 10 tackles for the Broncos. New England improves to an impressive 7 wins and 2 losses for the 2017 season. Bill Belichick’s team keeps evolving and now look like a team that could repeat as champions.
