Four in a row. That’s how many consecutive games the Philadelphia Eagles have won now and their NFC showdown against the Chicago Bears was definitely a thriller. Nick Foles threw for 2 touchdowns in the second half to rally the birds back and this has been beyond a miracle. In the last two years Nick Foles has been one of the greatest stories in all of sports. This is probably his last season in Pennsylvania but his stock is soaring and some team is going to sign him for a lot of money in the off-season. It’s because of big moments like this and how he always finds a way to win. Golden Tate and Dallas Goedert also made their presence felt by each hauling in a touchdown pass. The rest of the game was closely contested because of both defenses. Mitchell Trubisky played well throwing for 303 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. You could see the player that Trubisky is going to be someday but the problem was the Bears couldn’t get in the end zone. One touchdown isn’t going to cut it in the National Football League and even though Cody Parkey missed the potential game winning field goal. Parkey was 3/4 when it came to his attempts so it’s not like he’s solely to blame for this loss. Matt Nagy’s offense was kept in check by Michael Bennett, Timmy Jernigan, and the rest of the Eagles’ defenders. We’ve been hearing all week about Khalil Mack, Roquan Smith, and Akiem Hicks but it was Philly’s guys who really stole the show. Once the clock struck zero Bennett was the top performer with 3 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 TFLs. Timmy Jernigan had 1 tackle, 1 sack, and 1 TFL. Roquan Smith led the way for Chicago. He tallied up 7 tackles and 1 interception. Danny Trevathan was also tough as nails. Trevathan racked up 6 tackles and 1 TFL. Not even Allen Robinson’s 143 receiving yards and 1 touchdown could put the Bears over the top. The Eagles were just too strong and they’re getting hot at the right time. Just over a month ago there’s no way we would be talking about this team and their chances of repeating as Super Bowl champions. Now it doesn’t seem too far out of the question.
