Odell Beckham Jr. recently said that he wants turn the Browns into the Patriots and clearly expectations are high in Northern Ohio. It’s gotten to the point where most of the players on Cleveland’s roster believe they can win a championship and obviously that’s good a thing. The problem is Beckham Jr. is kind of taking credit for the transformation this football team is about to go through.

When in reality things didn’t start to get back on track until Baker Mayfield showed up. Now to be fair Beckham Jr. spoke very highly of Mayfield and even compared him to a modern day Brett Favre. The former Giant (Beckham) also made that Patriots statement to build up some hype for Cleveland’s fan base. Still though he should’ve been more conscious of what he’s putting out to the media because this franchise already won 7 games in 2018. The worse was already in the rear-view mirror before Beckham Jr. arrived and proclaimed himself to be the savior. Instead that role has to be reserved for the 2018 1st overall pick (Mayfield) because he’s the lifeblood of this organization. Which is exactly why Baker Mayfield broke the NFL rookie record for touchdowns passes in a season with 27. If you take that production away then Cleveland is in boatload of trouble. It’s also a good thing that the team’s quarterback is the reason they tick. The best offenses in the league are built on that same foundation and in a passing league a good QB is more important than ever. Mayfield will carry the Browns on his shoulders and it’s possible they do end up making the playoffs. With the additions they’ve made 10 wins is a realistic goal and that should get them in. From there it’s about heating up at the right time but at least we’re mentioning Cleveland and the playoffs in the same sentence. This ball club hasn’t been to the postseason since 2002 and they need to put that drought to an end. In order to do so Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. will both have to play well. Just don’t forgot who the real x-factor is.
