The Pittsburgh Steelers have been known for Ben Roethlisberger and their high flying offense recently but G.M Kevin Colbert thinks Devin Bush can take their defense to the next level. This group was already ranked 6th in the league a year ago but theyā€™ve struggled to replace Ryan Shazier at the inside linebacker position. Bush is someone who can slide into that role and really help the Steelers pack a punch.

What makes the former Michigan standout so impressive is his ability to pursue ball carriers. The 2019 first round pick (Bush) has tremendous closing speed and heā€™s very tough against outside runs. Another thing that has to be mentioned is how good Bush is at blitzing. We all know Pittsburgh loves to send their linebackers in an attempt to disrupt opposing quarterbacks. Devin Bush can shoot through a gap and then he wonā€™t stop until he finishes the play for a loss in the backfield. When you add him to the other guys they have on this defense including Cameron Heyward, T.J Watt, and Bud Dupree it becomes obvious how dangerous all of these players can be. With Cleveland rolling out a very potent offense this is exactly whatā€™s needed to keep them in check. Bush will have to rattle Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Once he takes away those two running backs then it will free up Watt and Dupree to get after Baker Mayfield. Without an effective playaction passing attack then itā€™ll cause the Browns to become one dimensional. So you can begin to see why Colbert had no problem trading away a 2nd and a 3rd round pick to move up and get Bush on draft night. Clearly they felt like he embodies the Blitzburgh mentality and itā€™ll be exciting to see how Bush performs once the regulars season gets here?
