The Los Angeles Rams made a splash when they traded for Marcus Peters. That brought the best cornerback in all of football to Hollywood but LA didn’t stop there. The Rams recently traded for the Broncos’ Aqib Talib. Talib is a five time Pro Bowler and he is familiar with Wade Phillips’ defensive scheme because the two spent time together in Denver. Landing just one of these two player would have gave this organization a huge boost in the secondary but to land both of them means the Rams will have the best cornerback tandem in all of football. That title formerly belonged to the Jacksonville Jaguars but A.J Bouye didn’t play like an elite corner when he was matched up against Antonio Brown in the playoffs. That has to drop the Jaguars a little bit in rank and it’s safe to say Peters and Talib are better than Ramsey/ Bouye. Wade Phillips will really be able to dial up some blitz packages now that his two corners can flourish in man to man coverage. Just a few days ago we were worried if Los Angeles was trading away too much talent but give General Manager Les Snead some credit for turning things around quickly. On top of all these good moves the Rams NFC West nemesis the Seattle Seahawks seems to be unraveling after trading away Michael Bennett. That’s going to open the door for Sean McVay’s team (Rams) to really extend the lead in this division. Right now it feels like San Francisco is the biggest threat to Los Angeles. However you have to feel Peters and Talib will completely blanket the 49ers wide outs. Jimmy Garoppolo will also be overwhelmed by the pressure Phillips is going to fire at him. Talent wise, the Rams are the standard of the NFC West and that should result in a lot of wins.
