Former Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis was elected as a member of the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. If you ever got to watch Lewis play it was the epitome of what a defender should look like and there was just so many different phases to his game. From an on the field stand point Lewis was so instinctive and could diagnose plays extremely fast. Equipped with a quick reaction time and extremely fast twitch muscles the former Baltimore stand out played sideline to sideline making most of his stops with bone crunching hits. There’s just so many goods things that you can say about Lewis from a player stand point that you almost forget this guy was probably the best leader we’ve ever seen on the gridiron. Nobody brought as much passion and charisma to the game that Lewis did and that’s why he was constantly the catalyst for the Ravens defense which was always the gold standard of the league. There’s very few people who can motivate the others around them and get them to buy into a vision like Ray Lewis did for 17 years. We’re talking about someone who has elite athleticism with top notch intangibles too. Ultimately those abilities led Lewis to 13 Pro Bowls, 2 Defensive Player of the Year awards, and 2 Super Bowls. Along the way he also chipped in 2,061 tackles and it’s not everyday you see someone who his so versatile. It’s been a heck of journey from Bartow Florida all the way to the University of Miami, then being selected in the 1st round (26th pick) by the Ravens. Lewis had to battle adversity throughout his life time and time again but he’s as resilient as they come. You just can’t say enough good things about the spirit Ray Lewis brings to not only football but life overall. He was just destined for success.
