New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski isn’t having his best year statistically but the fans in Foxborough shouldn’t worry just yet. The 5x Pro Bowler has been battling a few injuries (back, ankle) and he’ll eventually heal up and get back to the Gronk we’re used to seeing. With the emergence of Josh Gordon and the return of Julian Edelman New England is only missing one piece. That’s Rob Gronkowski’s big numbers over the middle but there is some good news. The 29 year old tight end (Gronkowski) recorded 97 yards against the Chiefs and that’s a step in the right direction for him. By proving he can come out and be around the 100 yards receiving mark that’s a great indication of what’s to come. The two main concerns were Gronkowski sitting out against the Bears and the fact that he’s only got 1 touchdown near the half way point of the season. Tom Brady knows that he must get the big fella going to open up the other pieces in this passing attack. Not only that but Gronkowski is very effective in the end zone. When you can put touchdowns on the board oppose to kicking field goals those are the plays that can get you over the hump. New England has done a great job of finding their identity the past couple weeks and this is going to be the final touch on everything. If Gronkowski can finish with 5 touchdowns and build up his confidence going into the postseason everything will be fine. From there it’s all about making catches when ever Bill Belichick calls his number and we know the Patriots will be very close to winning it all. A reinvigorated Rob Gronkowski may seal the deal for this team and then there’s a real possibility he may retire. Gronk is beat up and he’s taken a lot of hits throughout his career. Walking away somewhat healthy will be his top priority.
