With the recent news that New York Jets Wide Receiver Robby Anderson will face several criminal chargers including two felonies. The Jets find themselves completely tapped out at the wide receiver position. New York failed to produce a single 1,000 yard receiver with Anderson in the line up and now this team is looking into oblivion with their top guy’s future in doubt. There’s a few pass catcher that are slated to hit the open mark this off-season most notably Allen Robinson, Sammy Watkins, and Jarvis Landry. Really the Jets need at least two receivers to be competitive so they have to either solve those issues by signing free agents or by drafting players at that position. This team could sign one player and draft the other too, as long as they put together some kind of plan action to address their wide out needs. Sammy Watkins and Calvin Ridley would be a nice little combination to add to Gang Green’s roster. Even though Todd Bowles needs to eventually find a quarterback, if he can re-sign Josh McCown for one more season and add those players on the outside. New York will at least have an identity heading into the future which better than what they’ve had in a while. McCown threw for 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions last year so there’s a little bit there you can work with. Not only that but Josh McCown understands Todd Bowles’ expectations and that will help the veteran QB improve in his second year at the helm of the Jets. From there the front office has to do their part by getting playmakers that can stretch the field and help move the chains more consistently. If this franchise fails to address these needs it will end up being a dreadful 2018 season in New York. There’s just not enough talent right now to truly be competitive.
