The Washington Redskins had to deal with a harsh reality when Trent Williams decided to sit out last season. Williams is obviously Washington’s best player and his absence watered down this offense. But all of that could be changing and the Redskins can thank Ron Rivera for that.
Initially Williams said he was frustrated with the team’s medical staff for how they handled a cancerous growth on his head. Apparently the team downplayed the condition and it was very frustrating for Williams (understandably). Although it appears the tension between Williams and Washington could be easing because Rivera has touched base with the 7x Pro Bowler and it seems to be a step in the right direction. Maybe Williams was also sick of Jay Gruden or perhaps he wants to make some more money? Regardless it seems like this situation has taken a turn for the better. And now we have to applaud Rivera for his job performance because this was something that needed to happen. Dwayne Haskins will be a much better quarterback with Williams watching his back. Which could be the key to unlocking this team’s potential in 2020.
