Let’s make one thing clear. The New York Jets should’ve beat the Miami Dolphins. While New York signed Le’Veon Bell, Jamison Crowder, and C.J Mosley to improve their roster. Miami went in the complete opposite direction and traded away all of their best players. However the Dolphins were able to knock off the Jets because Ryan Fitzpatrick was the best player on the field in this contest. The gap between Fitzpatrick and Sam Darnold was pretty big and this is what the veteran quarterback can bring to this team.

Fitzpatrick is so good at throwing the football that he can get defenses on their heels very quickly. New York found that out the hard way and there’s also some rapport developing between Preston Williams and Fitzpatrick. Williams had 2 receiving touchdowns in this game and those two could be even better down the line. The other guy who is really coming along for Miami is Mike Gesicki. Gesicki also had a receiving touchdown and if Fitzpatrick can keep working with these weapons then the Dolphins might have something. Everyone in South Florida wants this franchise to draft Tua Tagovailoa but if Miami stuck with Fitzpatrick it could free this team up to draft someone like Chase Young. Young isn’t a great fit for a 3-4 scheme but the Dolphins could take Young off talent alone and become a better football team. Building around Fitzpatrick for two or three years gives them that option.
