There’s tough and then there’s Drew Brees tough. The gap between those two categories appears to be pretty significant. Especially after what we saw from Brees this past weekend. The 41-year old quarterback came into the Saints and 49ers game with two broken ribs. He decided to play through those injuries and ended up breaking three more ribs and collapsing a lung. And that shows just how far Brees is willing to go for New Orleans. This man sacrificed his body for that team, city, and their fan base. He gave his blood, sweat, and tears to get the Saints to a 7-2 record. And while those injuries make it clear how brutal the sport of football can be at times. They also prove that Brees’ loyalty can never be questioned. New Orleans’ medical staff anticipates that he’ll be out for at least three weeks. But the Saints are well off because Brees left them in such good shape. His last couple of performances in particular have been gritty. And you know his teammates will end up respecting him for that. Just wait until Brees returns for the playoffs. Talk about an emotional lightning rod.
