The New York Giants were hoping Saquon Barkley was the real deal when they drafted him with the 2nd overall pick and so far the rookie hasn’t disappointed. Big blue doesn’t haven’t a lot of talent on their roster either but Barkley continues to make an impact in a number of different ways. Whether it’s running the football or catching passes out of the backfield number 26 has been the most consistent player for New York and that’s why they took him so high. It would be the perfect time to get rid of all of the other offensive pieces and build a new core group of players around Barkley. It’s not just because of his playmaking abilities the former Penn State Nittany Lion is also a leader in every sense of the word. You won’t see Barkley having the sideline outbursts that have plagued Odell Beckham Jr.’s career. Making it apparent the Giants should trade the troubled wide receiver and hand the reins to their standout running back. The wins might not come right away but at least the culture will improve and sooner or later that will yield some great returns. Not only that but if Dave Gettleman can get a bunch of picks in return for Beckham Jr. they’ll have a chance to build everything up in the next couple of years. The Raiders have taken a similar approach by dealing Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper. That’s smart because at least they’re going to have some draft capital to jump start their rebuild. Everyone on the Giants roster should be on the trade block except Barkley. He’s the only one that’s been good enough to avoid being a part of negotiations. There’s no way the front office would want to move on from their top pick anyway. However all of the old guys on this roster have to be purged and the goal should be to get as many guys under 25 as possible. By doing so this franchise can usher in a new era of New York football. One that would feature Saquon Barkley as the headlining act.

Star of the show: Saquon Barkley needs to be the leader of the New York Giants. He is a better fit for that role than Odell Beckham Jr.
