It was a rough day at the office for the New England Patriots. Several players decided to opt out of the 2020 season. Dont’a Hightower, Marcus Cannon, Branden Boldon, Patrick Chung, and Danny Vitale have all decided it’s not worth the risk. It’s gotten to the point where if the league isn’t going to protect their players. Then they’ll just take it upon themselves and use the opt out clause that they have for 2020. You have to wonder if the league would bring in Shane Falco and the Replacements just to keep their “show must go on” mentality. But we do know one thing, the Patriots will be without several key players if there is a season. And the players who take over those jobs won’t be nearly as good as Hightower and the rest of those guys. Hopefully Bill Belichick can just get through the year and keep everyone safe. Right now that feels more important than wins and losses.
