Former first round pick Jarrad Davis started to put it all together in his second NFL season. The Detroit Lions linebacker recorded 100 tackles and 6 sacks proving how valuable he can be for Matt Patricia’s defense. You can see right away how physically gifted Davis is.

Not very many 240 pounders are able to move as well as this guy does and he’s everything you want in today’s era. Stopping the run is fundamental no matter what level of football it is. Jarrad Davis goes a step further and he lays some pretty heavy blows on opposing ball carriers. That ends up striking fear in the offense and you’ll see some teams start to clam up a little bit. Once that happens the Lions have a much better chance of winning the game. It should also be noted that Davis is very strong against the pass too. Receivers think twice about running crossing routes against him because those can turn into devastating hits over the middle. Because of the speed that each guy is moving at it’s almost like witnessing a car accident. The final part of Davis’ game that we have to talk about is his ability to rush the passer. He’s got a knack for slicing through the offensive line and those sacks help Detroit get off the field on passing downs. So when Jarrad Davis takes down Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, or Mitchell Trubisky on 3rd and 10 those are drive killers that keep points off the board. You just can’t say enough good things about Davis and his third year should be truly special.
