Coming into this week’s Buccaneers and Packers game. All of the talk was about Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. But it was Tampa Bay’s defense that stole the show because Aaron Rodgers looked like a deer in the headlights. The biggest play in this matchup was Jamel Dean’s interception that he returned for a defensive touchdown. Up until that point Green Bay had been in complete control of the game. But Rodgers underestimated Dean’s speed and that’s surprising because he ran a 4.3 at the NFL Combine. Then you have to look at what Lavonte David and Devin White were able to accomplish. Todd Bowles likes to blitz often and both of those linebackers flourish in Tampa Bay’s scheme. It’s their ability to attack the quarterback that caused Rodgers to crumble. Keep in mind the Buccaneers are missing the interior pressure that they normally get from Vita Vea. That didn’t matter against the Packers. They were still too fast for Green Bay and it’s clear that Tampa Bay is gaining confidence.
