The Los Angeles Chargers need to start Justin Herbert right away. They can’t afford to play Tyrod Taylor and lose two or three games at the beginning of the season. The AFC West is way too competitive and it’ll kill the Chargers hopes of making the playoffs. The gap between Herbert and Taylor is that big and Los Angeles drafted Herbert in the first round for a reason. They already see the rookie as their franchise quarterback. So it makes sense to get his development underway and there’s a good chance Herbert will seize the moment. He performed very well at the NFL Combine. You can tell that the next level won’t be too much for the former Duck to handle. And he’s the Chargers best shot at making it to the wildcard. Therefore it makes sense for Los Angeles to play their top option at quarterback. Which is hands down Herbert even if he’s still a little green.
