Yesterday the Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins want Joe Burrow. However they have the 5th overall pick in the upcoming draft and that means they’ll have to trade up to get Burrow. Now Miami does have 14 picks so there’s enough draft capital to send a package to the Cincinnati Bengals. Meaning if the Dolphins really want Burrow then it’s certainly possible. Truthfully this report was a little shocking because we’ve heard that Miami preferred Tua Tagovailoa for the past several months. But the run that Burrow just went on must’ve swayed the Dolphins. He’s more of a pro style quarterback than Tagovailoa is.
And that can appeal to a team who wants their QB to sit in the pocket and win with his arm. For a team who’s already on the rise perhaps this is the piece that can take them to the next level. Burrow’s accuracy and touch can create so many opportunities for their offense. We know the Dolphins have struggled to find a quarterback ever since Dan Marino left. They believe Joe Burrow can be in that same class. If it ends up being true then there’s no doubt it’ll be worth the assets they have to give up to get the number one pick. A move like that would help them get much closer to winning the AFC East.
