Yesterday was a bad day for Jameis Winston because Jason La Canfora reported that Philip Rivers will sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Of course this is all just speculation right now but Rivers did just buy a house in Florida so there seems to be some evidence that suggest it’s true. Rivers will leave the Chargers after spending 16 years in Southern California. However it seems like Los Angeles is ready to turn the page on the Rivers era and that could be great news for the Buccaneers.
It feels like everyone is writing Rivers off which is ridiculous because he only had one bad year. Another thing that is being overlooked is Rivers has seven consecutive seasons of at least 4,000 passing yards. When you put that kind of production in a system like Tampa Bay’s. Good things are going to happen because there’s a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin could be the best receiving tandem in the league. Not to mention they have two tight ends who can make plays in Cameron Brate and O.J Howard. So if you’re a quarterback this is a great landing spot and it’s also a fresh start for Rivers. Don’t be surprised if he does turn back the clock in Tampa Bay. That environment would be conducive to success.
