It’s been a long wait for Dez Bryant. He’s been out of football since December 31st of last year when the Cowboys lost to the Eagles in week 17. So Bryant will need to shake off the rust but ultimately this was a good move for the Saints. Bryant has a lot more gas left in the tank than the public would lead you to believe. There’s been a lot of people saying the veteran pass catcher can’t play anymore and there’s no doubt he’s motivated to prove his naysayers wrong. We’ve seen the workout video’s he’s been uploading online and that was number 88 letting team’s know “I’m ready if you need me.” New Orleans clearly bought into what the 30 year old receiver was selling and adding a marquee player like this sends a message to the guys in that locker room that they’re committed to putting the best team on the field they possibly can. The Saints are coming off a big win over the Los Angeles Rams and they didn’t want to be satisfied with that victory. This trade feels a lot like what the Philadelphia Eagles did with Jay Ajayi last season but Bryant can have an even bigger impact than that. Drew Brees has pinpoint accuracy and this is the best QB the 3x Pro Bowler (Bryant) has ever played with. At the minimum he’ll be a red zone target and it’s the perfect addition for Sean Payton’s offense. Why not bring in a player who can help you and it’s very likely Bryant exceeds expectations. Adrian Peterson is having a rival with the Redskins and Dez is three years younger. Payton is also a creative genius too so he’s going to put the newcomer in a position to succeed. Bryant will be in a 2nd or 3rd wide receiver role and that means he’ll be lined up on one of the weaker cornerbacks. Proving there’s a lot to be optimistic about if you’re a Dez Bryant fan.
